Search: Fathers

This the last book in the series that began with The Prince of the Pond, and it is a good ending. The first book is the best, and we enjoyed reading them all.

We laughed out loud throughout this book, it was so much fun to read. It was fascinating to hear about life from a frog's perspective and the girls were so very eager to hear more chapters from this book. It is the first in a series.
Note of caution: The fact that frogs mate is brought up, though saying that males have suckers on their 'hands' so that they can hold on is as far as they go to describe the process.

A great story about how a boy wants to help his father capture a wild lion that has been attacking a farmer's animals. There is a scary part where the father thinks the lion has been captured but it has not, and the boy has to pick up the father's forgotten gun (loaded to put the lion to sleep) and shoot. He doesn't hit anything but he does frighten the lion away. We enjoyed this suspenseful story of this African boy and the lion cub he ends up raising.

A story of a father who responds with love and understanding to his son who does not with to become a tailor like his father and 2 brothers. There's some geometry and sewing instruction at the end, but we skipped that part, and enjoyed the story over and over.

An amusing story of co-sleeping that our young children loved to hear over and over.

Who would have thought that so many male sea creatures care for
their young? Mr Seahorse is a story about Daddies, how they guard
nests, carry eggs in their mouth or stick them to their head, and
babysit the little ones. We heard this one over and over, and then our (then)
5 yo shocked me by "reading" it - she recalled every word.
